Step by by day

This year has been quite interesting. There have been more lows than highs. I haven’t written down any goals. I am tired all the time but life continues to move forward. As a believer we all go through seasons where we feel alone, lost, questioning our purpose due to a lack of confidence. I have been there before but never has it felt this way. My name, Felicia, means happy daisy. I have always had an optimistic outlook and most often you will see me with a smile on my face but for the past 6 weeks my smile has faded.

At first I did not think I would be so open and honest being that family and friends might read this post but transparency lends itself to freedom and healing. So as I am navigating this interesting space I want to share some tips that are getting me through every day.

  1. Relationships. The right relationships. Instead of calling and telling everyone I leaned on my inner circle. My inner circle is my husband, my best girlfriend and my mama. Instead of encouraging me to wallow in self-pity and fear they encouraged me in the Word and prayed the Word over my life and situation. In addition, they have been great listening ears and sounding boards. If I’m wrong they tell and if I’m right they tell me. It’s their honesty and love that I can depend on which makes a world of difference. Why? Because instead of isolating myself I am surrounding myself with community that will hold me up when I feel like I cannot.
  2. Faith. I probably should have put this first but my faith is built upon a relationship with Christ. I could not imagine walking this life without a savior. It’s easy to navigate when things are easy but when things get tough and I need to rescued…..there is only one person who can do that and His name is Jesus. The best thing is that He walked this Earth as a man so he understands disappointment, anger, indifference, uncertainty. He gets it BUT because He is God….he has defeated all of those things that would try to swallow me. So I believe that 1. He loves me 2. He is with me and 3. He’s got me. Check out Romans 8 and I Peter 3.
  3. Scripture. My mom is a Bible general….I swear she knows it from cover to cover.  How did this happen? Not by chance or osmosis, she made a conscious effort years ago to spend time with the One who knows all by reading His word.  As a result she know where to find an answer for any situation, question or when her daughter calls asking for help.  I will say that my commitment to reading has grown and I am more confident because I am reminded of His promises.  At the end of this post I will share some of my go-to verses in case you’re curious……which you should be.
  4. Prayer.  I was listening to Beth Moore one day and she said “A prayer a day doesn’t keep the enemy away”.  It was like a lightbulb went off and I then began to understand Thessalonians 5:17 which simply says pray without ceasing.  Prayer really is our secret weapon and for me it has kept me from thinking thoughts that are destructive, saying words that are empty and even being filled with worry and anxiety.  As I have been consuming more scripture it has allowed my prayers to be more intentional and me simply saying what His word says which is powerful because He is true to His word.  What does this mean?  He responds to what He has said in scripture and even if it seems like nothing is happening He is working on my behalf.

Felicia Tucker

Hi, my name is Felicia Tucker and I am a wife and mom of three. My world consists of fostering a healthy marriage and nurturing my children while integrating that into my career. It is never a dull moment! I am learning how to enjoy the small moments, not sweat the small stuff and go to sleep with the toys strewn over the living room floor.
