Shilene Aaron: The Mama Mogul

Motherhood has changed my life. I am blessed to be a mother. I have a wonderful mother and I also have a wonderful circle of mama friends. I am fairly new to Instagram and as I become familiar with this particular form of social media, I have become acquainted with moms, who I have never met, that have become a source of inspiration for me on my motherhood journey. Shilene Aaron is one mom who I look to.  Her platform is amazing! I had the chance to interview Shilene and I couldn’t wait to share the interview here!

Hi Shilene! Tell the readers a little bit about yourself and why you decided to create The Mama Mogul.

Hello, my name is Shilene Aaron and I’m a wife, mother of 4, believer, podcaster and I created The Mama Mogul brand because I’m passionate about inspiring women and especially passionate about mothers.  I wanted to create a platform for mothers where they felt comfortable sharing their experiences, struggles and joy within their motherhood journey without judgement.  My mission is to offer a community of support & encouragement I wish I had early on in my motherhood journey.

HOW do you do it all? I’m amazed by women like yourself who have more than one child because I struggle with one!

LOL!  I get this question all the time.  The answer is I don’t do it all!  I’ve tried and it was very unhealthy for me mentally, physically and emotionally to carry the pressure that I can do everything.  Society has created so much pressure on women period and especially mothers to wear the Super Woman cape.  It’s taken me a long time to hang up my cape and learn how to prioritize, delegate and share the load.  You cannot carry all the weight on your shoulders, it makes you frustrated and resentful and you get burnt out.  That is not the kind of mother or wife I want to be.

Who do you look to as an example in your motherhood journey?

I have had some really good women as examples in my life, including my mother & aunts but especially my grandmother.  She has been the biggest influence in my motherhood journey.  She taught me that charity starts at home and then spreads abroad.  You take care of home first then you can go out and do other things.   When I was a single mother my grandmother was my village and she knew I had a hard time sitting down and being still.  She told me being busy and on the go isn’t always good, that I have to rest and take care of myself in order to properly care for my children/family.

What role does your faith play in your everyday experience as a wife and a mother?

My Faith has brought me through some dark places as a wife and in my motherhood journey.  Family is God’s design and the enemy doesn’t want marriages to thrive, therefore breaking up the family dynamic.  It’s imperative to keep God at the center of our family unit to guard against any attacks.  I pray for wisdom and guidance to raise my children and keep the peace in our home.

The Mama Mogul Podcast! I love it. I’m a huge fan because every episode resonates with me as a woman. I honestly think any woman should listen because they can benefit from the dialogue. How and why did you decide to take such a huge step?

Thank you so much and I am so glad to hear you love The Mama Mogul Podcast.  I had so many doubts and fears before starting the podcast.  I had no clue how to start a podcast and used every excuse not to do one.  I kept researching, attending webinars, using Google University until God kept urging me to start and so I just jumped!  I didn’t plan an official launch because I knew I would find an excuse to delay.  I just started with my phone, the Anchor app and the direction from God.  The podcast has blessed many and it’s only the beginning of The Mama Mogul brand.

What advice could you give to mothers who have reservations about stepping out creatively?

I say if God gave you the vision, he will accommodate the provision.  Do your research but don’t overthink things because that tends to further delay us.  Launch then learn as you go.  Start where you are, with what you have and God will provide.

How were you able to carve out your niche in a market where other motherhood platforms exist?

I knew there were other motherhood podcast out there and I didn’t think there was a need for more.  I wasn’t sure I would offer anything different, new or valuable to the listeners.  I didn’t want to repeat the same topics and same guests over and over that other podcast were already covering.   So, I lean on my authenticity, my own motherhood journey and offer what I would have needed as a new mother, mother that didn’t have examples or a village or just needed that circle of support from other mamas.

Shilene I can’t thank you enough for this opportunity! Please share how people can connect with you.
