The New Year is literally right around the corner!

Being older my outlook on the New Year is quite different. Approaching 2019, I’ve started to think about my personal smart goals. Usually I reflect upon past goals and the ones I’ve completed. The ones that are still a work in progress, I considered them “plans.” These usually take time, growth and/or financial backing.

I try not to be too hard on myself when it comes to these knowing that one day all that hard work will indeed pay off and those desired outcomes will soon come into fruition.

As far as my smart goals, I like to make them attainable in a years’ time. It can be reading the word every morning, increasing my time in the gym, travel to a different state, practicing intentionality, being more loving to myself and others and even being more open to dating.

Though I hate to sound so cliché, I do believe 2019 will be my year. I have things I want to accomplish next year that I’ve started now. I simply view the New Year as an extension of the next day.

We have to make sure that we are doing the work now. I could go on and on what I should’ve done or what I could’ve done. Or I can just start now, make those smart goals and plans now.

Having these goals in mind including a fresh perspective in the New Year makes me feel so much better. I’m recharged and looking forward to all that God has in stored for me.

I want to leave you with this gem from one of my favorite teachers, Joyce Meyer. In her latest devotional “The Greatest Gift” she states, “Ask God to help you live in hope and declare by faith, ‘Something good is going to happen to me!”.

And I believe it!
